Where we work
Lexington and the surrounding Bluegrass towns — Nicholasville, Georgetown, Versailles, Midway, Paris, Winchester, Richmond and Frankfort.
The Bluegrass is unusually consistent as a masonry region, which is genuinely useful: the same limestone geology, the same freeze-thaw cycle, and a large stock of nineteenth- and early twentieth-century brick built with soft lime mortar. Work that suits a house in Lexington generally suits one in Versailles.
What changes between towns is the building stock rather than the technique. Downtown Lexington and Paris carry more historic soft brick; the newer subdivisions around Nicholasville and Georgetown are mostly modern brick veneer and block, where the failures are different and usually simpler.
Common questions
Do you charge for travel outside Lexington?
Not within the towns listed above — they are part of our normal working radius. Further out, we will tell you before quoting rather than adding it quietly.
Do you take small repairs?
Yes. A few spalled bricks, a loose step or a section of failed mortar is worth fixing early; small masonry problems get expensive when water has been getting in behind them for a few winters.
Can you match old brick?
Usually to a close approximation. Exact matches to nineteenth-century brick are rarely possible from current stock, so the honest approach is careful selection plus mortar matched to the original in colour and texture.
