About Us
How we work on old walls and new ones.
Lexington Masonry Pros works brick, block, and stone across Lexington, KY and Fayette County — repair, restoration, and new work. The operating principle is simple: match the repair to the wall in front of us, which on Lexington’s older housing stock frequently means using softer materials than a modern crew would reach for.
What we do
Tuckpointing and repointing, chimney repair and rebuilds, foundation masonry, brick steps and porches, historic restoration, dry stone fence work, retaining walls, patios and walkways, stone veneer, outdoor fireplaces, and commercial facade repair.
The thing we care most about
Mortar hardness. It sounds like a technicality and it is the single most consequential decision on any repair to an older wall. Hard modern mortar in a soft historic wall transfers stress into the brick and spalls the faces — damage that cannot be reversed and that costs many times the original repair.
Any bidder who quotes repointing on a hundred-year-old house without asking about the age of the masonry is telling you something important.
What we will tell you not to do
- Do not sandblast old brick — the fired skin never comes back
- Do not seal or waterproof historic masonry — it traps water inside the wall
- Do not mortar a dry stone fence — it will push out within a few winters
- Do not repair a foundation without fixing the drainage that damaged it
- Do not salt brick steps in winter if you want to keep them
How a job runs
- Call or text (859) 310-1209, or send photos of the elevation and the damage
- We come out, look at the wall and the access, and talk through the options
- You get a written quote with the reasoning behind it
- Work scheduled for weather that lets mortar cure properly
- Site protected, cleaned down, and walked with you at the end
Common questions
Are you insured?
Yes, and a current certificate can be sent directly from the carrier before work starts.
Do you work on historic buildings?
Yes, and it is a substantial part of what we do in Lexington. See historic masonry restoration.
What areas do you serve?
Lexington and Fayette County plus Nicholasville, Georgetown, Versailles, Winchester, Paris, Richmond, Frankfort, Wilmore, Midway, and Lawrenceburg. See our service area.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes. Small repairs are often best combined with other work so scaffolding or access is only set up once, and we will tell you when that saves you money.
